Based in Shakopee, Minnesota, Greystone is a general contractor serving the commercial, industrial, multifamily, senior housing, and agribusiness markets across the United States.
The Minneapolis/St. Paul Business Journal ranked Greystone 23rd on their list of Twin Cities-based general contractors with $80.5 million in revenue in 2019.
The shift in ownership comes with restructuring of Greystone’s leadership team.
Kevin O’Brien will continue to guide the company in his role of CEO and Chairman of the Board. Kevin’s guidance and focus on professional construction management, high-quality craftsmanship, safety, and customer service has grown Greystone from a start-up to a well-established and versatile general contractor. Kevin’s primary focus going forward will be Business Development and reinforcing the core values that have guided Greystone’s growth to this point.
Gordie Schmitz has been promoted to President of Greystone Construction. Gordie joined Greystone in 1993 as an Assistant Project Manager. Gordie earned many promotions since that time. His most recent position was Vice President of Construction Operations and in that role Gordie established an exceptional team of project managers and estimators and advanced Greystone’s project estimating and management technology. Gordie’s areas of expertise span the entire construction process and Greystone’s delivery methods.
Eric Bender has been promoted to Vice President of Construction Operations. Eric joined the Greystone team in 1995 through an apprenticeship program at the Shakopee High school and began his career working on commercial and industrial projects. Eric worked his way through the ranks on his way to a position of Director of Field Operations. Eric’s knowledge of field operations, attention to detail, and energy has made him a respected leader at Greystone.
Brian Kreuser has been promoted to Vice President of Construction Execution. Brian joined the Greystone team in 1999 through the apprenticeship program at the Shakopee High school. After high school graduation, Brian became a journeyman carpenter and quickly advanced to foreman, superintendent, and general superintendent. Brian is responsible for hiring and training craftsmen, scheduling crews and equipment, purchasing and maintaining equipment, construction techniques, and Greystone shop operations.
Colin O’Brien has been promoted to Vice President of Business Development. Colin grew up touring job sites with his father, Kevin, at a very young age. Colin’s construction experience officially began at Greystone as a field laborer in 2002. His field experience benefited him later as an estimator, project coordinator, and most recently business development manager.
“I have had the privilege of being a mentor to these four people for their entire professional careers. It is now my honor to call them my partners,” said Kevin. “This is another step in a journey to meet the long term goals of growth and development at Greystone. Together, our team has established a reputation for safety, integrity, and construction excellence. I am confident in the abilities of the Greystone team and excited for this next chapter.”
