To support the initial phases of compost manufacturing, the GC Fabric Building Division constructed a 155’ x 224’ fabric enclosure dedicated to material pre‑processing. Within this covered structure, incoming food waste and green waste are blended and prepared for composting. Larger materials are reduced in size using a grinding machine, resulting in a more uniform mix that supports efficient downstream processing. The enclosed workspace improves material handling while allowing operations to continue smoothly regardless of weather conditions.
Dem-Con partnered with Greystone to design-build its award-winning materials recovery facility using metal building construction. Commingled recycled materials are accepted at the site, then sorted and processed by a state-of-the-art system capable of processing 20 tons per hour.
The City of Albany’s commercial composting facility uses durable, weather‑protected structures to support high‑volume organic waste handling, with organized compost bays, efficient equipment access, natural ventilation, and clear spans designed for large machinery and long‑term material management.
This compost facility has proven economical, efficient, and sustainable from an operational perspective, while creating long-term environmental benefits by diverting material that traditionally would have been landfilled, thereby reducing methane emissions.

Dem-Con Companies partnered with Greystone to construct a metal recycling facility utilizing a precast concrete building designed for durability and high-volume processing. The facility supports the processing of ferrous and non-ferrous metals, automobiles, and excess materials, with a layout optimized for efficient material flow and reliable operations.
We were proud to join Dem-Con and Kanadevia Inova for the groundbreaking of their Anaerobic Digester Project—an important step forward for sustainable waste management in our region. When complete in 2027, residents’ food scraps and organics from metro-area counties will be sent to this facility to be turned into energy instead of waste. The anaerobic digester will process 75,000 tons per year of organics that would have otherwise gone to a landfill, producing renewable natural gas (RNG) and biochar through a unique public/private partnership.
Congratulations to Walter's Recycling & Refuse Inc.! We’re proud to celebrate the groundbreaking of their new transfer station expansion in Blaine, Minnesota. This project will support Walter’s continued growth and commitment to providing sustainable, community-focused recycling and refuse solutions. Greystone is honored to be their construction partner on this exciting expansion, and we look forward to bringing the project to life!
